Question re Sources in reports...
This is an odd one (well, at least to me). As I work on individuals in my database, I've been replacing the old, horrible Ancestry generated sources that were imported from my RootsMagic database with those generated by AS or created with FH7 templates.
However, I noticed that when I generated an Individual Summary report, that the old Ancestry sources are still there, while those included in the Individual Timeline report are only the newer ones. I'm trying to figure out what the difference is. It's very frustrating as it means a lot of fiddling about in my word processor to fix things in the Individual Summary.
I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out.

Re: Question re Sources in reports...
In the Individual Summary Report the first three (Ancestry style) sources are all linked to the individual's name. (I've always thought it odd that this style of report has a line for the name immediately below the heading which has already shown the name in large letters, but perhaps it's so that superscripts for any sources for the name can be shown on this line.)
The Ancestry sources might be cited specifically against the name or against the 'whole record'. In the Report Options > Sources tab there is an option to "List 'Whole Record' Source Citations against Individual's Name" which is selected by default.
My guess is that you used the Ancestry style sources in more than one place for the individual and didn't replace them all. They will still be cited against either the name or the whole record.
The Timeline Report doesn't have a line for the name, other than the heading, so these sources don't show in that report.

Re: Question re Sources in reports...
I figured that it had something to do with the name, but I've checked everywhere I can think for where those Ancestry sources are tied to his name, but each place shows me only the new sources. At least now you've confirmed my suspicions. I'll have to figure this out as I'm going to do this work on at least my main line family members, if not everyone in the db, depending on time.
Thanks for answering - I'll continue to look through where else I didn't replace those old sources.

Re: Question re Sources in reports...
I would suggest looking at the ALL tab for the person concerned, and then clicking through each line one-by-one and watching the Sources box for which sources appear. Clicking on the person's name will show sources for the whole record.
Alternatively, you could find the source in the Sources Window, then run the Where Used Records Links plugin, which will give you a full list of where that source is linked, including which person/event/fact.

Re: Question re Sources in reports...
Teresa, you should be able to find those Ancestry Source records in the Records Window Sources tab.
Select them singly or select them all and run the Where Used Record Links plugin which will identify exactly where all the Citations exist, which you can then delete.
Any of those Ancestry Source records with 0 Citations can be deleted.

Teresa, as I said previously, the Ancestry sources might be cited specifically against the name or against the 'whole record'. To see any sources cited for the whole record, look at the All tab for the individual (or expand the record in the Records window). Any sources at the whole record level will be visible without the need to expand specific facts.
Alternatively, find one of the sources in the Records window and click to open its Property box. Then use the cog wheel icon in its tolbar and Show Source Record's Citations in Results Window. For any citations at the whole record level the type will be listed in the results window as 'Individual' (as opposed to 'Name' if it is cited as a source for the name).

Adrian,
The All tab didn't reveal it...For next time I'll remember the plug-in. For this time, Lorna's second set of instructions worked

Re: Question re Sources in reports...
Mike,
Thanks also for the reminder about the plug-in, and letting me know that records with 0 citations can be deleted. RM made quite a mess with TreeShare, which I'm slowly trying to clean up here in FH. I'm using a collateral rather than a direct line ancestor as a test. If I mess him up, he has few enough facts against him that I can just recreate without too many problems.

Re: Question re Sources in reports...
Lorna,
I had checked against Whole, and still didn't see it. However, your third tip finally did it.
FH is just so much more powerful than RM and Legacy in its ability to dig right down - I'm still learning my way around and really appreciate all the help I get here on the forum.
Thanks again,
Teresa
