I hate to throw a monkey wrench into the works, but --
What I would like to do is create a custom FamilySearch Family Tree ID field that allows me to store the ID for my own use, along with the date I entered the ID to Family Historian.
The reason for this is that individuals on the FSFT from the 20th century especially undergo a lot of change, as people create new duplicates from records and those get merged/deleted, etc.
I used to Weblink FSFT profiles on my (sandbox) online Ancestry trees, but a while ago, I gave up because of how quickly the links went stale. You are supposed to be able to look up the current profile if you have the older ID. We'll see how that works out.
Because of all the churning, I am not really concerned about piping data from a custom field into whatever FH field that Calico Pie has made. Probably the best solution of all would be to keep a tally of changes in a journal, so a Note is probably more appropriate than a custom fact.
Don't mind me, I'm just thinking out loud.

Is anyone able to explain this? I liked the ability to add the FamilySearch Family Tree ID to my relatives' profiles.

I don't know what I am doing different, but I am able to use the field just fine. I imported my RM file in March 2022 and ran the Import FamilySearch ID (0.1) plug in last May, it brought in all my RM FSID just fine. I customized (with Mark and Mike's help) the individual property box to show the FSID and all works great. Since then I have continued to enter FSID numbers into the profiles as I research individuals. As an additional test, just before posting this I looked up and entered the FSID for an individual and confirmed I can edit from either the records tab or the property box. Hopefully the screen shots help.I think the best workaround for the moment is to create your own custom FamilySearchID attribute (give it a slightly different name to avoid confusion). You can then convert these to "real" FamilySearchID values using the Change Any Fact Tag plugin. It's tedious, but there is no other way to add that data from the user interface.

Re: FamilySearch Id
See my screen shots in previous post - not sure if that is what you are looking for as a field to store the FSID. I was able to use the plug in to bring over all the FSIDs I had entered in RM, but now have to enter them manually. I just enter it as I am researching the individual.Post by jmurphy » 12 Oct 2022 16:10

I believe it is a text field, I successfully added a date after the number. Given FH's future use of the field is unknown I would probably want to use a separate field for the date. I am not sure if another line of custom fields reflecting dates could be added to the property box or if you would have to use the field I am currently using as Wiki ID for that.
I am sure the more experienced users on the forum can provide some guidance.

Re: FamilySearch Id
Thanks for that Curtis. That's a very interesting observation. I have confirmed that while it is not possible to add or edit a FamilySearch Id value in the Records Window, you can do so with a custom field in the Property Box, as you have demonstrated.
That's very odd. I have no idea whether it is deliberate, or an accidental consequence of whatever plans CP may or may not have for how to use this field in the future. It does, however, give an easy route for adding your own data once you have made the one-off configuration change to the Property Box.

What is CP?
Also, anything to avoid, and/or recommended for tags and name?
