keeping charts when closing

Post by sailor842 » 24 Sep 2022 17:54

Every time I re-open Family Historian I have to re-establish the charts that I've created as visual aids to my work.

I know that I can save the charts but then I have to go through the steps to re-open them.

Is there a way that I can re-open right where I left off?

In a word, no.

There's a Wish List request you can vote for to save and restore workplace layouts.

Can I ask a follow-up question please?

When I open a chart (for example, a descendant chart, but they all seem to behave in the same manner) they always open at 100% scaling. I am aware of the Fit/Area/Opts buttons at the top of the screen and know how to zoom in/out. However, I would like to fix the scaling to a number so that when the chart opens it scales automatically rather than going to 100%.

The Diagram Options... pop-up box has a Scaling drop-down box, but it doesn't matter what I put in here, it always resets to 100% when I next open a chart (I do have Remember Options ticked at the bottom of the box). All the other options in that box are retained when I open a new chart, but scaling apparently is not.

Is this a fault, or am I missing something? Thanks.

Thanks, I have now voted. Considering it's 15 years old I'm not sure it will be addressed. I suppose at least I have my answer that it's not a setting that is remembered, despite the Remember Settings tick box.
