I have an Elizabeth Smith that has a child out of wedlock called William Smith, then Elizabeth Smith gets married to Thomas Brown, Thomas Brown is not the father of William Smith but on the FH Smith family tree it looks as if he is and on the Smith family Report it says Thomas Brown and Elizabeth Smith had the following children i.e. Elizabeth Smith:
So my question is can FH show William Smith as just the child of Elizabeth Smith in trees and in reports, even though Elizabeth is married to Thomas Brown.
Kind regards Ken

Re: Out of wedlock child
First you need to create a new unnamed 'spouse' for Elizabeth Smith, as the father of her son William. In the main tab of her Property Box, in the Spouse section, you will see the first spouse tab is for her husband Thomas Brown. Click on the second tab then Add Spouse/Partner > Create new Record but leave the name blank. You can set the Status to ‘Never Married’. Now click the black ‘up’ arrow on the right, to swap the order of the two spouses.
You now need to unlink William Smith from the family of Elizabeth Smith and Thomas Brown, and relink him to the family of Elizabeth Smith and the unnamed ‘spouse’. There are various ways of doing this. See the KB article Changing Relations for a short video of one way to do it.
