Blank Alternate Names
I am in the process of reviewing and updating Alternate Names (%INDI.NAME[2]%). Once I delete an entry, the result in a query and in a Family Group Sheet and an Individual Summary report shows as [unnamed person]. The Property Box for the updated person is blank. Sources for the deleted Alternate Name may or may not be blank; does not seem to make a difference.
Once an Alternate Name (%INDI.NAME[2]%) field is blank should not all references be negated?

Re: Blank Alternate Names
It sounds as if you are deleting the contents of the %INDI.NAME[2]% field but leaving the empty field. You need to delete the field itself. This can be done in the Names and Titles Dialog (reached by clicking the More button next to the name in the Property Box) or in the individual's All tab, where you need to select the Name field to delete it, rather than just selecting and deleting the contents of the field to its right.

Re: Blank Alternate Names
What have you tried? Did you use the Result Set of a Query?
If that does not work then the only other option is a Plugin.

Re: Blank Alternate Names
I did successfully used a query to capture all instances. Am able to go thru individually and delete. As I'm not adept at writing a plugin, I can manually delete.

Re: Blank Alternate Names
If you have them listed in a Query then just select all the cells and hit the Delete key.

Re: Blank Alternate Names
I learned something new. How to delete cell contents as you suggested. I highlighted the cells in the query>Edit>Delete.
