I am currently entering sources for Birth, Marriage and Death certificates. The left hand column of each certificate has a "No." column, but I have not been able to find where to enter this in AS. When I have created the auto text entry I am adding this number manually. Is that the right way or am I missing something?
I have a supplementary question regarding Marriage Types - can anyone tell me what is the difference between "After Banns" and "By Banns" I have searched on line and not found a satisfactory answer.

Re: Certificate Numbers
I have AS set up to record the Ref Id in the Source record Publication Information using Generic Sources.
In the Ref Id is the Year Quarter District Volume Page Number, where Number is that No. from the certificate.
e.g. 1940 Q2 Sheffield 9c 1504 177
I think Marriage Type is taken off the Certificate where under grid it says Married in the ..... by Banns/Certificate/Licence and maybe sometimes after Banns.

Re: Certificate Numbers
Yes that's the correct way to do it. In earlier versions of the templates I had this populated with the value in the ref id field but there were a number of complaints that the ref id is used for the full source reference rather than just a number that happens to appear on the certificate but isn't a full source reference. As with all the auto-text templates they will make a good attempt to automatically generate the source transcription but they do need manual editing before saving, which is exactly what you're doing.Little.auk wrote: ↑19 Mar 2022 16:00I am currently entering sources for Birth, Marriage and Death certificates. There isn't a difference but some parish records state 'after banns' and others 'by banns' so both options are available.I have a supplementary question regarding Marriage Types - can anyone tell me what is the difference between "After Banns" and "By Banns" I have searched on line and not found a satisfactory answer.
