Hi I have a project I discussed some time ago, which i did specifically to Enable making Charts I needed for DNA match purposes. It worked fine, but then the computer I had it set up on failed. FH then changed to no longer supporting 3 computers on a license, so as I had backup copies of the project ( several on different drives), I thought not a problem. Now I only use 2 licensed computers, and I have navigated to and opened the project.
The GED for the project is in the same folder as the Charts, Cache, Log Files etc folders. ,This is in nested folders, but worked fine on the computer which crashed. And is all in the same Folder as the Project Link
The FH Project link is one folder BAck from the MAin Folder with all the Data.
The project opens fine when i click on the Project link, and if I Click CHARTS, Saved Charts, a box opens with the lsit that is in the CHARTS store Folder. But if I select one to open I get a message Box saying ' Unable to Open file for reading File path is not Valid' I have tried to find a way to solve this with no luck so far, and even tried to import the project as a new project with no luck.
Suggestions please, like how do I reset the File path to the Charts folder for the project? Or The best way to solve?
Images for Project Link and main folder, and FH project open etc attached

Re: How change File path to open saved charts in Project
Hi Bill, let's resolve a few issues I spotted.
Firstly, please update your FHUG Profile to show FH V7 instead of V6.2.
Click your username Billread, navigate to Edit Profile, select Family Historian V7 then scroll down to SUBMIT.
BTW: A normal FH licence only ever allowed installation on 2 computers and not 3, which was a licence violation, but FH did not have a mechanism to enforce that and relied on trust. Due to such misuse, FH V7 now electronically enforces the 2 computers licence terms.
I suspect this Project complains about its Folder in the File > Project Window...
That is because the filenames mostly spell Resources in full but the top folder uses Resc's instead, which should be corrected in Windows File Explorer.
The Project name is long and the Location is deeper than the conventional ...\Documents\Family Historian Projects\
So I wonder if the full file path for the Chart file nested in its sub-folder is too long for Windows.
Try using File > Project Window > More Tasks > Rename Project (or Copy Project) using a much shorter name.
Does the Chart open with that shorter file path?
One other idea. Does the Chart need a background image file that has moved, or some icon files outside the C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\Icons\ folder, which is the only valid location in FH V7.

Hi Mike
changed to V7 as requested. Also played with Filepath lengths as suggested. By copying to a desktop location, and reducing filename length etc . It worked fine, and I think maybe I had when i refiled it exceeded the windows maximum character allowance.
so I have been able to access.
many thanks

Re: How change File path to open saved charts in Project
Just for information, generally speaking, up to Windows 10 version 1607, the maximum path length is 260 characters.
Later versions this can be increased by changing a registry entry. IE it’s not a setting you can find in Control Panel or Options
This applied to Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and early 10
