Delete non-existent spouse.
I am sorry to ask such a basis question. I combined two trees and ended up with a duplicate. Whilst I have now deleted one of those entries I just cannot clear that partner line and it appears as a blank box in a diagram.
Mary AEG had three partners and a son from each. Two partners are unknown and the third by the name of Bell. However the system is stuck with showing a fourth partner despite there being no entry. I attach, Focus window, Diagram, and Immediate Family report. I will be most grateful for your help, Rod Goldup.

I suspect you did not check all the tabs for the merge.

Alternatively, return to a backup of your main Project prior to the Merge and perform the Merge again but paying attention to all the record type tabs across the top of the Merge dialogue, especially Families.
See FHUG Knowledge Base Merge/Compare File and follow all the advice.
Beware that they may be many other duplicate spouses that you have not found yet.

Following on from Miketate and Jane, can I add that deleting one side of a marrige (bride or groom), does not remove the actual marriage!
What you also need to do is remove the marriage fact which will be shown on the All tab in the property box of the remaining partner.
This can be identied because it will show <No spouse> ( or something similar), so you know you are deleting correct marriage!

Re: Delete non-existent spouse.
Mike, your description could be misleading.
I think by 'marriage' you mean 'family record'.
Certainly, the Marriage Event is not shown on the All tab of any Individual record.
Marriage Events are recorded within Family records and as such prevent Family records from being automatically deleted when Husband &/or Wife are deleted.
Neither of us has suggested deleting records anyway.
Jane suggested Merging Family records and I suggested repeating the File Merge.

Re: Delete non-existent spouse.
Thanks for your advice everyone. Jane, yours looked the most straightforward solution but I'm not getting the flow of pages as shown in your tutorial. I get to the Records Link page, highlight one of the entries to be merged and hit Go To but that takes me to a very empty screen different to that shown in your tutorial. I will be most grateful for any further thoughts. All the best, Rod.

Re: Delete non-existent spouse.
Yes, unfortunately, the video only fully applies to FH v6 and earlier, but not to FH v7, although it is similar.
So, having got to the 'blank' looking Family record Property Box, click the icon in the toolbar above that looks like a pile of discs with a red arrow called Go To Record.
That will list Family records on the left with the current record selected.
If necessary, click the Family Records column header to sort alphabetically.
Then you should see two similarly named Family records that can be selected and merged as explained in the video.
