Hello,

yesterday i saved my GEDFILE and closed the program, today i wanne open the program and at +- 70% loading it closed automatic, without a message, FH 7 Start automatic with the latest project i was occupated.

i have now deleted the current GED File en place the latest snapshot file in the place and renamed it to the correct filename en now it start again, but it's in a month time the 4 time that after i saved the file and close the program i had to place a snapshot file in place because it don't work anymore, i lose then usely 1 day work.

now i make every day a ful backup from my project.

1) what do i wrong ?
2) how i prefend this things from happening,
3) how can i see wat is wrong with the GEDFIle ?

i use windows 10 and have the latest FH 7 program.

i cannot give a error log because it didn't make one

From your earlier posting, I believe you have a large Project with about 98,000 persons and 33,000 families.

I wonder why it is only after saving when closing FH that there is a problem.
Do you give FH time to complete the Save before closing FH?

What is your Autosave time interval?
If that is the default of Every 5 minutes then you probably do not need to save when closing FH.
Anyway, FH will ask you to save if there are any outstanding changes.

Where is your Project saved?
i.e. What is the Location: shown in the File >Project Window...

Have you changed your Anti-Virus product recently?

Please try running the following checks on your Project.
Use File > Validate...
Use Tools > Uncategoried Data > Find Uncategorised Data...

it's not only then, sometimes when i closed and then open again then i get a error message and all my sources and template sources dissapered.

The recent thread FH7 Downloads and Media (20101) also reported vanishing records, although rather more severe than your case.
It is difficult to imagine what is the cause.
At the moment, all I can suggest is you contact CP via the http://www.calico-pie.com/osticket/open.php Support Centre and perhaps they can expertly inspect your system by remote access.

Are you using any automatic backup or Cloud drive services? Is it possible those are interfering with your save routine. If you are try turning those off to see if the process then works correctly.

However, his Project Location: seems to be the default My Documents\Family Historian Projects which rules out cloud services.

Also, how would such interference by another utility remove some records but leave the trailer (0 TRLR) record intact?
The same scenario arose in the FH7 Downloads and Media (20101) thread, where all records vanished except the trailer.
If the end of the GEDCOM file was simply truncated there would be no trailer (0 TRLR) record and FH reports that.

You are assuming the user did not simply ignore the error warning, or was aware as this user was that the save process did not complete. I believe with some newer cloud services you can control any folders not just the "named" folders.

As Jane says, it doesn't rule out cloud storage.

If somebody uses DropBox they may also use Boxifier, which allows you to sync any folder. When I was using DropBox, I synched My Documents and a bunch of other folders.

And OneDrive has a setting to turn on synching of Desktop, Documents and Pictures in addition to the OneDrive folder.

Before i make a backup i save the project , then i make a full backup to my nas server ... al the times the backup proces give me a signal that te backup is complete... (without mistakes)

i see that ever time the backup zip file is growing ever day.

after 10 full backup day's i delete the first again.
