My first post - A newbie question from a refugee from RootsMagic.
I have imported my RM7 database into FH7 using the direct import in version 7.0.8.2, have begun some tidying up and have identified several customized fact sentences (Tools/Working with Data/Fact-Witness Sentences).
I have tried to "reset" them by copying in the standard syntax from a similar Fact Sentence which has not been customized but that has not worked. Possibly they are still being treated as "customized" because they have been "changed".
Can anyone please tell me how can I reset customized sentences to the standard sentence for the relevant fact type?
Thanks
Roberto

Re: Reset Customized Sentence
Welcome to the FHUG Roberto.
I'm not exactly sure what you are looking at because the command you mentioned does not exist.
The default global Sentence definitions are held in Tools > Fact Types... that lists every Fact Event/Attribute.
The standard FH Fact definitions are held in the Standard Fact Set listed under the Fact Set column.
Your custom Facts from RM are held in a RootsMagic Import (project) Fact Set.
To see their definition use the Edit... button where you will discover the Sentence Template and for shared witnesses use the Roles... button and then Edit for the Role Sentence Template.
Typically they will say [NEED TO DEFINE SENTENCE: ...Fact...] or for Roles they will say {blank}.
For the Fact try the Restore Defaults button at the bottom to get a default template that may be suitable.
In general you will need to learn about Sentence Template codes, so click the << Insert Code button and choose How to Use Advanced Features at the bottom, then scroll to the top of the Help page to study all the advice.
However, it is possible that specific Facts have their own custom Sentence definition.
So in the Property Box for a person, open the Facts tab and select the Fact. In the Sentence box at the bottom click the black down arrow on the right and choose Reset Sentence to make it use the Tools > Fact Types... definition.
See the FHUG Knowledge Base Narrative Report Fact Sentence Templates for details.

Ah! That is new in FH v7 that I had forgotten about and I'm away from my PC.
The Sentence box Reset Sentence option should work.

Re: Reset Customized Sentence
Hi Mike and BillH.
Thanks for the Welcome. I am happy to be "here".
Yes, BillH identified the method by which I had identified the imported customized fact sentences, albeit I hadn't correctly stated it in my post. The Reset Sentence worked as expected and they have all been standardized as I wanted.
The KB and FHUG are magnificent. Thanks again.
Cheers,
Roberto
