Re: Location of cremains
I still use FH 6.2. When you add the "Cremated" fact, a box appears which allows you to enter Date, Place, Address, and Note.

Re: Location of cremains
I use the cremation fact to record the actual cremation. For the date, place, and address, I use the date, place, and address of when and where the creation was actually done.
When the cremains are placed somewhere, I use the burial fact and use the date, place, and address where the cremains were buried. I use a burial fact regardless of whether the cremains were actually buried or scattered or any other method.
At least in my experience, the cremains are never "buried" on the same date and in the same place as the cremation took place so two facts with different dates, addresses, and places are appropriate.

Re: Location of cremains
I think I initially used the Burial event to cover interment of the ashes but I have gone on to using a Custom Event AshesInterred simply because I use (however occasionally) narrative reports and by using an event dedicated to that task, I can say something a little more appropriate in the sentence template, viz:
If you don't use narrative reports, then using burial events for the interment of ashes is probably fine.
(I believe, by the way, that FH7 doesn't need as many embedded spaces inside angle brackets as I have in that sentence)<para>{his/her} ashes were interred< at {address}>< {place}>< {date}>< ({date:DAY_OF_WEEK})>
If you don't use narrative reports, then using burial events for the interment of ashes is probably fine.

Adrian,
For the limited number of people where I have used the burial event for cremains, I just override the default burial sentence to be more appropriate.

Re: Location of cremains
Perfectly sensible - you presumably couldn't identify such people with a simple query, but that might not be important to you.
I think I did once contemplate another custom event for the scattering of ashes, rather than burial of ashes, but given the limited number (none so far!) I nominally decided to override the ashes-interment sentence.

Re: Location of cremains
FYI: It should be feasible to identify such Burial Events with a simple Query for the local Sentence template tag _SENT.
i.e. %INDI.BURI._SENT%
It would even be possible to check for a key word in the Sentence template such as 'ashes'.

Re: Location of cremains
Yes, that seems reasonable - perhaps not as complex as I feared. However, it might expect more consistency from me than I can be certain of - there could be any number of reasons why I've added an override sentence, and Murphy's Law will dictate that I've used the word "remains" instead of "ashes" somewhere.
On the other hand, by looking for an override sentence and actually reading what it says, I should be able to sort out the circumstances - as we said, it's not like I'll have lots of cremations with variations as to disposition of the remains.
Other people's Mileage May Vary.

Re: Location of cremains
A query to find instances where there is a cremation fact AND a burial fact should work
