Living Flag

Post by peterbel » 23 Mar 2021 11:59

Is there a bulk way of setting this? I looked at the Plugins but couldn't see one that did.
My criteria would be something like: DOB > 1900 and DOD = Null.

My reason to do this is because I have never set the flag and I would now like to share some data, excluding those alive, with a distant relative.
Thanks

1. Create a query identifying the records you want to flag.
2. From the query result window, select the cog icon.
3. Set Flag on Row Records.

You could also look at the Clean Living Persons plugin, which you would run on a COPY of your project to delete sensitive information before sharing the copy.

Thanks Helen. I wondered about a custom Query but didn't know they could change flags.
I quickly tried it and don't seem to have set the right Row criteria, the results are showing individuals with DODs.
Add if %INDI.DEAT:YEAR% is null
Add if %INDI.BIRT.DATE:Year is greater than 1900

Have a look at the Living People (Estimated) query -- it might do what you need, or give you a clue on how to modify yours.

Use Exclude unless instead of Add if

Your 2nd Add if disregards the 1st Add if and is effectively an OR condition
i.e. Add anyone with no DOD OR born after 1900

Whereas Exclude unless is an AND condition.
i.e. Exclude everyone unless no DOD AND born after 1900

One last comment.
The Flag box in the Property window is tiny on my high res' screen.
As there seems to be a lot space around it, would it make sense to mention this to CP?

I presume your flags are something like this:

Customize Property Box... is designed to allow two Parts per row, which works well for most items.
So it only looks spacious for Record Flags with short names, and would need a special dialogue to add more on one row.
I suspect CP have more pressing issues to deal with.

Similar but not the same, much much smaller.
If tick marked it is very hard to see.

Your original comment appears to be correct.
Those tiny boxes look like a high-resolution screen issue, so report it to CP and include a screenshot with the flags ticked.
