FH7.02 Sources & Citations
I upgraded from FH6 to FH7 in December. Somehow I was able to carry on working inputting generic sources and citations, can't remember how
. FH7.02 arrived and due to my error was unable to upgrade and reported it to Calico Pie who said I had to uninstall FH7 and reinstall FH7.02. All went well and I am back up and running, but when I came to input a baptism record, which was okay, it was the 'text from source page' that I had problems with, in that I cannot insert a cursor. There is probably an easy answer but I can't find it
. I do know that sources and citations changed with the upgrade and that you had to do something to stay with generic sources. Please can you help?

Re: FH7.02 Sources & Citations
Joan, fundamentally, Sources and Citations have not changed.
Some new Source Template features have been added, but if you stick with Generic Sources then little has changed.
You don't need to do anything to continue using Generic Sources as they are usually the default.
What perhaps is confusing you is the new Citation Window shown in your screenshot.
It shows a combination of the Source record and the current Citation.
So when adding Text from Source you must decide whether you want it added to the Source record or the Citation.
You cannot edit the Text from Source box at the top of your second screenshot. That is just an index.
Use the Add Text from Source button below and choose whether Source record or Citation specific.
Then you edit the text in the box below and an index entry will appear in the box above as a shortcut to that entry.
It appears you are using Method 2 'lumper' Source Citations.
Since you only add Text from Source to the Citatiuons then set the Show option at the top to Citation-specific Only.
Then only the Citation Text from Source options and fields will be shown.

Re: FH7.02 Sources & Citations
Just to add to Mike's reply, when you have selected Add to Source Record or Add to Prepared Citation, you will see a list of options one of which is <Empty Text>. That's the one to choose if you want to enter free-form text as you did in V6. The other options are autotext forms for specific types of source.
Personally I have found it quicker to customise the main tab of the Citation Window so that the Text from Source fields for both the Source (top section) and the Citation (lower section) are on the Main tab. Then you can enter free-form text immediately without the extra mouse clicks. See this article for general guidance on customising the Citation window: Customising V7 to use V6 (Simple) Style Sources

Re: FH7.02 Sources & Citations
Many thanks all. All sorted. It was the mini menus from ‘Add to source record’ and ‘Add to citation record’ that confused me and the Baptism (Generic) was definitely what I didn’t want. Tried the ‘empty text’ and was away, thank you Lorna.
Mike - definitely a ‘lumper’, always have been and always will be
