Hi,
I am new to FH so apologies if this question seems obvious.
In my previous software I can easily search for say Given Names contains Mary AND Married Surname equals SMITH, perhaps in conjunction with Any Place contains Barnstaple.
There does not seem to be a straight forward way to carry out such a search in FH.
Would I need to create a Custom Query to do so?
Thanks
Ray

In the records window, at top are filters for both given name and surnames.
Simply enter surname, and all people with that surname will be listed, then by adding given name, you can narrow the list down to the person you’re after.
The filters start to work as soon as you start typing, so you only need to enter enough characters to get where you want. e.g. searching for a Maurice, you would most likely only need to type Maur for the filter to give you who you want. ( hopefully you don’t have someone called Mauritania as well

To include Husbands surnames in the matching, select options and you can tick the box for that.

Thanks Jane,
That method gives me the option to search for a given name Mary, and by using the + next to the person in the list of results to see the spouse.
For a less common given name that is workable.
However for a more common given name such as Mary or Elizabeth it returns a huge list of results in my database of over 60,000 people.
The Custom Query I came up with works, but I need to update the two values of given name for the woman and surname for the husband each time I want to use it.
Regards
Ray

Did you see Jane's suggestion for including Husband's Surnames in the Filter Options... for Individuals?
That will narrow down the list.
In a Query on the Rows filter tab use the Parameter & Label option bottom right to prompt for what you want to search for.
