Update to Quick family Facts

Post by E Wilcock » 21 Dec 2020 17:02

Thank you so much for updating this to V7 Mike.

This is probably me forgetting, but the update still reminds one that one can open it using Alt T Q and that is no longer working for me.

"Quick family details popup snapshot can be invoked with Alt T Q"
Alt T now goes to how related. Followed by Alt P goes to how related.
Alt T, Alt U goes to plug ins. but I cant get the Alt Q to follow.

You did suggest testing to destruction. I have now worked out that one doesnt need a further Alt. But one does need to click on Run?

Alt T Q will only find the Quick Family Facts plugin if that plugin has been added to the Tools menu. There is a tick-box for this if you click More >> on the Plugins window.

Thank you. That works now.
But I dont really understand the purpose of that More step and why plug ins visible on my Plug in list in V 7 are not on the menu?
I thought that list was the Menu.

I have MANY more Plugin listed in Tools > Plugins than I would want in the Tools menu.

The More>> Add to Tools Menu lets you choose which favourite Plugins are on the Tools menu.

Imagine what might happen if there were two Plugins whose name started with Q and the menu was the entire Tools > Plugins list. How would Alt T Q know which one to run?

That Add to Tools Menu option is similar to the Facts tab Add Facts shortlist that is governed by the Fast-Add Menu tick option in Tools > Fact Types > Edit...

The above features are EXACTLY the same as FH V6.
