I am doing a major exercise on my rather unusual surname. Due to research I have sometimes duplicated records. Normally they merge without problem but, possibly if children have been added to both records, the merge results in two family’s being shown in focus page .. as if there were two marriages..
How do I get out of that and just show one family on the focus page?
TIA
Paul

Re: Merging Records
You need to find the two Family records and Merge them.
One way is to use the Records Window and on the Families tab sort them into order.
Then you will find two Family records for the same couple.
Merge them the same as the Individual records.
If you have no Families tab in the Record Window use Tools > Preferences > Records Window and set it to Always show.
BTW: When you Merge the Individual records, if you expand the Spouse family and Parent family entries you should be able to Match and Merge the Family records there and thus avoid the second step described above.
