FH7 and Record Flags

Post by Klaus Yde » 08 Dec 2020 13:25

I use a lot of record flags with associated home-made icons. Does anyone know if those will still function in ver7? Or does I have to associate those again? I hope that all my record flags are recognized in the new version.

Your record flags should not be affected.

I assumed that. I was more nervous about my icons as i use about 50 different icons in my charts :D

Icons should not be affected either.

You know that for a fact or only as a educated guess?

Klaus - most of the FHUG regular contributors have been using FH7 for some time during the beta test phase. They are not permitted to discuss the details of the testing, even once it is over, but they will be commenting from extensive personal experience of spending several months trying to break FH7! ;)

Mark - my problem is i need a clear answer. Not that they should be working. If i am sure that they are working, i will update - if not - i will keep my actual version. The same about my charts. And i am nor able to see who is beta testers and who is not ;) - Sorry. I am just an average user. ;)

When I upgraded, my flags and icons were unaffected.

My flags and icons are unaffected. But, Ancestral Sources v7 no longer supports flags. I only use AS for census entry. As a result I have changed all of my census flags to census expressions. That works fine, but in the case of the Canadian 1911 census etc I end up with two "11" icons. I have not found a solution to that minor issue yet.

Trevor, I suspect you Census expressions are not fully mutually exclusive.
Probably the UK Census expression just tests the year/date, whereas the Candian Census expression tests the year/date & place, so for a Canadian Census Event both expressions are triggered.
