* Add Witness from Record Window

When I add a witness, by default the Record window used to be on the individual for whom I am adding witnesses, which allowed easy and quick selection of family members. Now, the Records window is on RecordID sort order which makes it more long winded to locate the individuals in question, and I cannot sort any field while in the process of adding witnesses. What have I changed to make it so, and how do I get it back?

I assume you mean the Record selection dialog and not the records window.

The dialog uses the sort order you have selected on the Records Window so go to the records Window (View>Records Lists>Individual) and click on the Name column header to sort.

Thanks Jane... But the dialog box continues to sort in id order irrespective of the order set in the records window. Example below...

Marlene, you are correct that the Select Records dialogue is misbehaving.

Jane is correct that usually the Select Records dialogue should use the same order as the Records Window, but that is not currently the case for many scenarios. It works as expected for Add Citation, but nowhere else I could find.
It misbehaves for adding Father, Mother, Spouse, Child, Linked Notes, Family as Parent/Spouse, etc.

However, in the Select Records dialogue, click on the Individual Records columns header, or any other column header, to sort according to that column's data.

Once you have added a Witness, the chosen order seems to be remembered for the subsequent use of Add Witness.

Further - I have found that if you click on the Individuals Name in the Record Selection dialog, THEN on another column it will sort. But if you click firstly on any other column it will not...

I don't have to click anywhere except in the HEADING at the top of any column in order sort according to that column.

Sorry Mike - to clarify I had to click the Individuals Record column heading and sort, before clicking on another column heading (eg Updated) in order to sort in the Select Records dialog box. If I clicked on any heading other than the Individuals Record column first, it wouldn't sort.
