where is the setting for this, to insure this screen stays put and does not float?

perhaps I am using the wrong word. Sometimes when I am in the records window (as an example) or other windows sources, etc... and pull up a record (getting the right hand details screen and then click the focus icon, the left hand window comes up full screen behind, and I cant get it back to a half and half, except by random whatever, I want to lock in this situation and never have it do that when the details window is to the right. It always used to work, and I cannot think of what I did to change that behavior.

As you can see by the great blank screen added I have been running and debugging for some time. Ignore that, I am talking about the screen you recognize from fh at the top of the picture

Double click on the blue Focus square in the top left hand corner of the Focus Window. The Focus window should then revert back to 50:50 with the Properties box on the right hand side of the screen.

On second thoughts, this doesn't work, it just brings the property box on the right hand side to the front (appearing to show a split screen)

You could try arranging to Split or Cascade using the 'Windows' feature on the top menu bar. Then re-size to suit.

If you are talking about keeping the Property Box docked, use Tools>Preferences>Workspaces and in the column for Preferred Position for Property Box select Docked for whichever windows you want this to apply to.

I notice that you have set Tools > Preferences > Startup with Display the Records Window, ... ,at Startup ticked, which is indicated by the Records Window icon above the Focus Window icon with a close X.
Is that intentional?
Normally the Focus Window opens first with its icon above the Records Window icon as below.

Ron, do you know the difference between a Property Box that is Floating and one that is Docked?
Do you know how to switch between the two?

A Floating Property Box righthand toolbar is shown below so click the box icon on right to Dock it.

A Docked Property Box righthand toolbar is shown below so click the double-box icon on right to Float it.

The default mode for each window is set in Tools > Preferences > Workspaces but I have to admit those settings do not seem to be honoured.
e.g.
Typically the Focus Window is set to Docked and Open It, so whenever the Focus Window is opened it should always adjust the Property Box to be Open and Docked.
Open the Records Window and open the Property Box in Floating mode.
Open the Focus Window by clicking any magnifying glass icon and the Property Box is NOT Docked!
Close the Property Box then open the Records Window and open the Property Box in Floating mode.
Click the house Home icon and the Focus Window opens but closes the Property Box!
Thus in both examples above the Workspace setting is NOT being actioned correctly.

It does perform a bit better if Open Workspace Windows Remember Property Box State is NOT ticked, but in the above examples if the Focus Window magnifying glass icon within the Property Box is clicked it still does not Dock.

Those seem to be bugs that should be reported to Calcio Pie.

somewhere, inadvertently I must have clicked that button (windows 10 does strange things when dealing with mouse and clicks (AND THE FACT THEY DO NOT EXIST) because I get ghost boxes come up all the time when I click into a field, or pass by something someone thinks is important. Constant zooming problems everywhere on 10. I have the most up to date drivers for everything I can find.

In any case, for now, it appears that docking it is putting everything aright.

thanks. (yeah, couldnt figure out why preferences wasnt really doing anything.) makes sense.

LOL, IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'm not going to say its a fh problem......

Coward!

Sounds like your Windows 10 system is misbehaving badly.
I don't get any such problems on a 10-year-old ex-Win 7 desktop upgraded to Win 10 four years ago.
