* Uploading Gedcom to Ancestry

Please could anyone talk me through how to upload a gedcom file to Ancestry. I have exported a gedcom file to desktop, then used the plug in on the exported gedcom to clean up people. Then when I go on Ancestry and find it, its starts to upload and then comes up with not a genuine gedcom. What am I doing wrong, I have done this a good few months ago but would like to update my Ancestry tree. Thanks for any help

The entire process with various options is fully documented in the Export to Website Without Sensitive Data section of the how_to:exporting_gedcom_with_multimedia|> Exporting a Family Tree with/without Media page.

In your case I suspect the key steps are:

1. Use the File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File command and view the exported file in FH
2. Run the Clean Living Persons Plugin
3. Run the Export Gedcom File Plugin in (ANC) Ancestry Family Tree mode
4. Follow the plugins:help:export_gedcom_file:anc_ancestry_family_tree#import_details|> Export Gedcom File ~ (ANC) Ancestry Family Tree > Import Details for your Project's ...\Public\Export\<projectname> ANC UTF8.ged file

It sounds like you may be trying to upload the original master Project GEDCOM file which is encoded in UTF-16 that Ancestry does not recognise.

Thank you for your help Tatewise, I have managed to do this now, was missing out changing it to a gedcom with Ancestry Ans. Thanks again
