Publish Books & Booklets - Item Settings - Short

Post by paulcreedy » 10 May 2023 14:43

Hi

I've started to use the publish booklet option and notice that one field doesn't appear.

When displaying a tree, on the item settings there are options for:

Heading (text)
Short (text)
Format (chapter, heading 1, heading 2 etc)
Start (new page, odd page, same page)

The Heading, is the heading that appears at the top of the page
However when I enter text into the Short text box, it doesn't appear on the page. In fact that 'Short' text doesn't seem to appear anywhere.

Maybe there's another option or tick box somewhere to get this to display, but as it stand it appears to be a text box that doesn't appear where I expect it too.

Has anyone else noticed this or knows what I need to do to get it to display?

Welcome to the FHUG Paul.

Please click the Help button in the dialogue where Short is entered and it explains how that short heading is meant to be used on multi-page chapter headers or footers.

However, I have just checked and it seems not to be working as specified. Only the long heading is used.

That needs to be reported to CP but first can other users confirm what I have discovered?

I believe I can confirm what you say. Just in case there was an element of conditionality - the help file says something about "if that value is too long for a header or footer" - I entered a very long Heading - it still appeared as the heading, but with word wrapping.

If I omitted the Heading, but entered a Short Heading - nothing appeared. :(
