Connecting to media where currently located rather than creating a new copy

Post by natashahouseman » 17 Jun 2023 11:50

Hi all,
Once again this is possibly a newbie question, but i've tried searching the user group to no avail.
I'd ideally like to connected to existing filed media rather than creating what is essentially a copy file in the Family Historian project folder. Over the years I have adapted my filing system (which is on dropbox) in a way which really helps me view what I have by couple. It includes all media as well as draft blogs, narrative summaries, analysis etc. As I am running up on size limits on both dropbox and onedrive, I don't really want to create a second copy of everything I add to familyhistorian.

Is there a way of doing this?
Thanks

When you click the Add Media button in the Media tab of the Property box, choose the Insert from File option and select the required Media in its current location. You will the see a dialog offering to Copy File(s) To: At this point you should choose the option to <Don't copy - link only>.
