Messed up Relationship

When I run the relationship option for me and my wife, it returns that we are distant--very distant--cousins as well as being married. I doubt that we have common ancestors so I want to find the link and unlink it.

When I run the 'display graphically' routine It shows the chart with a color code of the links as they move down the trees as well as a few color lines from one box to another; however none are clear to me as to where I have mixed family records.

Any ideas of what I am doing wrong, or how I can determine where the error/s lie?

If you follow the lines on the diagram you should be able to see the connected ancestor, just look where the line starts going down again.

The other coloured ribbons are probably connecting proxy copies of the same Individual who has to be shown twice to avoid crossing relationship lines in the diagram.

Tatewise and Jane,

Thanks for replies. I will trace down the lines until I find where the relationship switches from my side to my wife's.

You should be able to use the 'View Report' option in conjunction with the 'Display Graphically' option to help you follow the line of connection.   The report sets out the connection between two people one step at a time.
