Help please!
I have just tried to upgrade and received the following error message:
'C:Program FilesFamily HistorianProgramfh.chm
An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:
MoveFile failed; code 183.
Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.'
So I clicked Retry got same message again.
Then clicked Abort and it said it was rolling back changes.
Re-downloaded same thing happened.
NOW when I click on the Family Historian icon, or the program, it won't open and I get a message box that says:
'Cannot find import; DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version zlib.dll, error 126'.

It sounds as if you had the help open when you tried to upgrade.
Please reboot your computer, and then run the install again.

If you mean switch off and switch back on again, as the IT help desk used to tell me at work, I have done so.
The first time I opened the wizard it told me to make sure everything else was logged off, I had to log off email and internet. The internet would have been on again the next times, but nothing else.
The upgrades from 5 to 5.05 are in a file called Downloads on my PC (confusingly) and there are 3, I obviously tried once more than I thought - I wasn't sure if I should delete them or if I have to do some sort of uninstall process, or if their presence makes any difference since there are lots and lots of other things in that file?

Please can you post to the forum on this. I would delete the downloads and bring it down again, you should have only one copy.
Then if you still can't get to to work, simply install your V5 install over the top.
- Thanks Jane, I have deleted the downloads as suggested and reloaded version 5 and it works perfectly. Rather to my surprise it even has all the variations I had created - I guess that only the missing part was actually reloaded and superimposed over the existing version 5?[smile][smile]
