As a V4 user, I need to adjust every firstborn descendant in a diagram to 'Keep Near parents' -- so that the chart comes out looking acceptable to me. Question: is it possible that V5 has some means of automating this extremely tedious process so that I can tick just one box to keep ALL in the diagram 'near parents'.
Ever hopeful ....

If you clone the diagram you use tweak your settings, and then save as a custom diagram (not chart)then choose save as default, your settings should be there each time.
There is, however a bug on this setup on vers 5.0 that causes new default settings not to be retained.
However you can still choose an individual and chosse open with custom diagram.

Keep Near Parents Automation
The Keep Near Parents Box State is not saved with either Default Settings nor Custom Diagram Types.
There appears to be no way to select a group of Boxes and set Keep Near Parents on all of them with one click.
However, after going through the process once, the Keep Near Parents settings are retained in a Family Historian Chart.
See Diagram > Save Diagram As > Family Historian Chart and View > Saved Charts.
A Family Historian Chart is NOT frozen in time, and any new Individuals or new Facts will be automatically incorporated next time it is viewed.
Naturally, whenever there is another first born, then the Keep Near Parents setting must be added to that Box, but all other Boxes will retain the setting.
