Show tips on startup

Can anyone else get this to happen.
I have usually had the tips at startup switched off.
However, when I updated to V5, decided to switch it back on again.
I went to tips, ticked the 'show at startup' option, saved my file and exited.
When I restart FH. No tips. Go to tips and the show at startup option has become unticked.

I retried this several times on both of my computers, with the same result.
I eventually got it to work by ticking the option, saving the file, exit FH, then reboot the computer.

John,

I also had tips turned off. I checked the option to show them at startup and I am now getting them when I start up FH. The option stays ticked if I close FH and restart it. I am using FH 5.0.2. I did not have to save the file or reboot.

I am running FH V5.0.1 on Win7 (64-bit) SP1.

With tips off, I use Help > Tip of the Day and tick Show Tips on StartUp, then immediately click the Close button and Close FH.
This always works for me, and have repeated it several times OK.

In the Tip of the Day window, avoid using the Next Tip button, which unticks the Show Tips on StartUp option.
There is no need to Save the GEDCOM file, unless of course if it has been changed.

Mike,

Very strange.  Clicking on the Next Tip button in the Tip of the Day window does not cause the Show Tips on StartUp option to get unselected for me.

I am talking about using Help > Tip of the Day when Show Tips on StartUp is disabled.

The general rule is that the Tip of the Day window shows the current Show Tips on StartUp status.
If you change status by ticking or clearing, but then click the Next Tip button, the status reverts to the original setting.

Mike,

OK... I see what you are saying. The same thing happens to me.
