Saving Favourites in Google Chrome

Having downloaded Chrome to my Notepad to overcome problems using Internet Explorer I noticed all my Favourites and search history were missing. The history not having been saved has, I imagine, gone forever but the Favourites I eventually found in the C drive under Users>Favourites.
Can anyone advise me how to copy these into Chrome without having to enter each URL into Chrome, then open and save to a bookmark folder?
Whilst my Notepad has relatively few Favourites I would like to change to Chrome on my PC and there are about a hundred or so on there and I am holding off doing so until I know how to transfer them, if this is possible.

When you Install chrome on your PC, it will ask you if you want to copy your favourites and bookmarks into chrome.
These will then appear in a folder on the bookmarks bar called 'Imported From IE'

I am a big fan of the XMarks plugin, as it keeps my bookmarks, history etc syncronised between all my different computers, phone and tablet and different browsers on the same machine.

I also like it's sister program LassPass for the same reason.

John, Jane, thanks for those tips. I hadn't seen the prompt re importing Favourite etc when I downloaded to the Notepad however following Nick's link I see it has appeared on the toolbar now. I'll watch out for that when I download Chrome to my PC later today.
Thanks to all of you
