Can you put two separate fields in the Main tab of an individual record, one for first names and one for surname? I know the // are from the GEDCOM standard, but they could still be used in the file and on the All tab. This would then make a clear distinction between what is part of the surname and will solve double barelled problems or things like de Charlton.

My previous program (which was not FTM) had this and it is a better user interface. I left my previous program because it had bugs which weren't being addressed and like most other family history programs still had a user interface going back to the early days of Windows. FH is the first program I have found that actually has a modern look and feel to it. Also the use of the GEDCOM file format is so blindingly obvious it amazes me none of the other programs use it, my old program's files were actually larger than the equivelant GEDCOM!

I will add it to the wish list, don't forget you can type the / / around the surname to handle that the real problem is some names are presented backwards.

The first half of the name being the surname so /johnas/ peter
This would be difficult to define when using two input fields.
