FH CD

Post by arshawbrown » 27 Apr 2012 08:47

Since upgrading to V5 I get a message 'Internet Explorer restricted this Webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls' when I play back the CD. This happens on any PC with XP, Vista and Win7 with several versions of IE. Older copies of the CD from V4 have no problem. Is there a cure please?

I'm not an expert, but the active X message is an internet explorer thing, not FH related. You'll get it on certain websites too. Your options are to allow IE to run the axtive x, or play with the CD creation settings.

About the only change I can think of that's changed in v5 for CDs that could create this is the popup of pictures. When you run the create cd wizzard, have a close look at this step: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... esentation Read all the options and if needed consult the help to disable the popup of pictures if you so wish.

Personally, I'd go the easy route and allow IE to run active x for that website by clicking on the message and choosing accept for this website.

It actually only needs javascript permissions and it's for the pop up images. This is IE being stupid as normal, if you run the same pages from a web site it does not prompt.

If you want to get around this and the CD will only be run on Windows PC's you might be able tweak the start up files to use an hta 'program' to launch the CD, or turn off the pop up images, or just tell people to click OK on the browser (or use a proper browser like Chrome or Firefox).

Thanks all - I guess I'll just have to accept it, thanks for your input.
