I'm puzzled as to the proper purpose of the 'Picture Note' field that appears between 'Title' and 'Keywords' on the Edit Media Item Dialogue Box.

I'm creating CD's from my family history which includes the 'Individual narrative report (Web, CD, DVD)'.

In that report the caption that appears under individuals' pictures is either -

1) auto generated as 'name, year, age + copy from the title box', or

2) the custom caption I have entered in the note box under the picture if I have ticked 'Use Note as Caption'

I have been unable to find a way to have the contents of the 'Picture Note' box displayed on the 'Individual narrative report (Web, CD, DVD)'.

What am I doing wrong, and what is the purpose of the 'Picture Note' field?

You are doing nothing wrong.

The Picture Note field, like several other fields in other Property Boxes, cannot be included in Reports.
It is purely an informational Note field.

Thanks for that, wish it made what you said clear in the help guide. Now I can stop fretting about it!
