I find the data field in sources totally unnecesary. I come across it if adding Text from Source in the All tab for Individuals for instance. I appreciate this is included to keep 100% GEDCOM compatible, but you could still retain it in the file format, just don't show it on screen. So if I right click on Source, the drop down would include Add Text from Source and Add Entry Date but wouldn't include Add Data. If I were to examine the GEDOCM using word or a text editor then the DATA tag would be correctly used.

Data Field in sources
Why is its existence causing you a problem? As far as I can see it only occurs on the right click.
Or is it the description of the field which is giving you a problem

It just means I have to right click twice to add the field I want. Sounds trivial, but to me it is a user interface improvement worth having. I know I could enter in the sources pane, but one of the many excellent features of FH is the ability to enter data though many routes and sometimes I go through the All tab.

I agree with what you're saying I think. I can't say when it will get done though, but I've made a note of it. Why not add it to the Wish List?
