Key supplied by Kagi will not work

Post by hambledonman » 19 Apr 2012 17:05

FH v5 update download key will not work & told to contact you for help Which seems kinda weird. After hours trying everything I even reran the complete install from 2-1-6 That was fun and then find I am no further ahead. Key not accepted.
Also complete removal of old versions prior to new install.
Windows 7  64bit install

Still cant get over Kagi lack of support for a key they supplied just 2 hours ago and me paying long distance to call them.

Solutions gratefully accepted   John[confused]

You can 'clean Install' your v5 upgrade as long as you have your v4 username and key, and your v5 username and key.. Remember that the username may be different for each version.

It might not help with the key problem, but the FHUG Knowledge Base advice is at:
How to (Re-)install Family Historian

There you will see you do not need to go back to V2.
You can install FH V4-V5 Upgrade on its own from scratch, with just the FH V4 Key and FH V5 Key.

Just make sure you Copy & Paste the Keys to avoid transcription errors such as I versus 1 and O versus 0.

However, the FHUG cannot resolve Kagi mistakes.

Thanks for the good replies but tried those already before I rebooted FH and as mentioned clean sweeped computer of FH before starting again with V.2-1-6.  Could it be Windows 7 64 bit software problem as getting desperate for anything now to try.

FH 5 is working fine for me on Windows 7 64-bit although I bought the full program, not the update from version 4.

I also got my copy from Kagi and the key worked fine.

Please make sure you are using the license which came from Calico Pie, this is separate from the Kagi sales reference.

If you only got the Kagi email check your spam folder for one from Calico Pie with your User Name and License number in it.

As Mike said you don't need to install previous versions just use the V4-V5 upgrade program included with your license, you CAN NOT USE THE V5 trial and enter your V5 license, you might need to enter your V4 one as well.
