Problem with Cause of Death Field

Post by annah » 07 Apr 2012 14:15

I am having a problem with the cause of death field not showing up in the reports or at least not all the time.

I had opened a family group report on grandmother and her parents and noticed the cause of death wasn't showing up above the related notes with the greats. Then noticed it had with my grandmother. It also wasn't showing on the greats individual reports but was on my grandmother's.

I tried cutting and pasting the cause of death in the greats as I've found that works with other gliches. It had no effect so I added an additional death fact and just put the cause in the field and that worked on both types of report.

Is anyone else having this problem? I don't really want to have to go through and add all the deaths again even if I can copy and paste the info out from the previously entered fact.

Thanks
Anna

A bit of additional info -
The problem occurs when I fill in the address field as well as the cause of death field. As soon as the address is removed the cause of death shows in the reports. I thought it might be that particular address was too long but just typing in a couple of letters in that field makes the cause of death disappear.

I use both the fields for place and address as I prefer my reports to have the list of facts with the place - normally just the town and county at the top as a listing.

In the additional info section I do like to have the full address above the notes.

I have tried this out and confirm that there seems to be a problem with the death address field supplanting the cause of death in individual and family group reports. (Narrative reports seem OK though).
This must be a bug in V5. Woops!

Yes, it appears that the Address field suppresses the Cause field.

If in the Report Options on the Contents tab the Addresses option bottom left is UNticked, then the Cause details reappear in the Report.

The underlying database seems to be unaffected.

Thanks Lorna and Tatewise

That'll teach me to upgrade before I have too. I was tempted by the book feature and the [evil]

Will just have to hope that Calico fix it before I need to print out any reports. [smile] Do I need to report the problem to them?

I would recommend reporting the issue to them direct.
They may pick it up from the FHUG, but best to report it direct.
