Not really sure what you are trying, but you could rotate the chart then break it apart using ungroup and then rotate the centre back around again.

I found that taking a fan chart apart to see how it is constructed did help in understanding how to customise it.

If you right click, ungroup, select some segments and drag them sideways, you'll see the chart is composed of
a circle
on two semi-circles
on four quadrants
etc
with text aligned so that it can be seen.

Right clicking and the selecting format allows you to change the text etc.

So what you could do is right click,
ungroup,
drag the inner circle away,
select all of the other segments,
click on the little green circle at the very top and rotate the selection 180°
then bring in the inner circle again and
regroup.

Or you could right click, format, shape tag, change 0° to 180°, ungroup, select centre circle, revert it to 0°, regroup.

But I'm sure that once you see what is going on in the diagram, you will find a more elegant solution.

That's fascinating how they are constructed. How do you find out so much about the structure so soon after release and is there anywhere that goes into the detail of V5 for numbskulls like me to read up?
Anyway my thanks for the advice from both of you. I can extract the centre; I can see how the shape tab rotaes everything. What I can't see is how one can select the whole chart for rotation, I seem to leave odd bits behind and get some really queer diagrams!
If you can tell me what I need to do I'll be a very happy Dagwood

Rotated the whole diagram before you break it apart then break it and rotate the centre.

Once you finish draw a 'drag' rectangle around it (make it a good bit bigger than the apparent shape and then group it back up again.

The fan chart is very similar to drawing tools and shapes in applications like Microsoft Word.

When you select a shape, look for little squares and dots in the blank area of the diagram - you may have to hit the - (minus) button in the toolbar a couple of times. These show the boundaries of the shape(s) you've selected. Often you can select more than one by keeping a finger on the CTRL button when clicking the shapes.

It may be that you have what looks like a small shape, but the squares and dots are some way out. I find that imagining the shapes to be like paint on celluloid cells, like in cartoons, helps.

You can't see the background for the shape, just where the  corners for it are.

The 'bring to front / move back etc, is just like arranging the celluloid cells in layers (in a way).

When you know that you've selected one shape, and a different one moves, that is why.

I've just had a quick play and I can see little white squares that when you select them can move and change the look of the shape, a yellow one that just changes the angle and a green circle that allows rotation.

If you are going to try for a custom fan chart, keep saving it as you go along. I find using a different name each save and then removing the old ones at the end works for me.
