Hi again, its Mrs. Thick!!

I would like to create a flag which shows all the records that have a birth certificate as a source - but even using a similar sort of query as I've done for the census stuff I cannot seem to make it work - please could someone point me in the right direction.

Why not post what you have so far, also do you have 1 source for all birth certificates or lots, and do they have a type which is birth Certificate for example

Hi Jane - yes, I have one source for all all birth certificates.

My query so far:

Rows: exclude if %INDI.BIRTH.SOURC>% is null

I'm not very good with this sort of thing - looking at the queries that have been written which show missing certificates there needs to be something in the column tab - but what?

I want to then put flags on to my diagram

That will only tell you if you have some sort of source on the birth not if it's a birth certificate, so items with census sources would also be marked.

Personally if you have only 1 source I would tend to select births linked to that source.

Add if
%INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[1]>% is .. and then select your Birth Certificate Source

Then you can use the Query menu to select Set Flag on Result set records

Hi - thanks for your help, and this is really showing how thick I am but how do I select the source?

I've put in what I thought it could be ie 'matches' then the name of source in the box but this gives me zilch!

[oops][cry]

Click the ... button on the end to select the source.

Also, in case your Birth Events have more than one Source Citation, and the Birth Certificate Source is not the first, you should add extra rows:
Add if %INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[2]>% is ..
Add if %INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[3]>% is ..
until happy you have captured enough instances.
