Mystery grandchild

Post by hathor » 30 Oct 2011 09:37

I have a census entry for a family which includes mention of a 10-year old grandchild, but I do not know who his parents are. How can I create a record for this child?

Ideally, I would like to link him to his grandparents, but it may not be possible to skip the parental generation.

Should I just leave him out until I can establish the identity of his parents, or is there some way of including him in my records?

(I am entering my Census data via Gedcom Census, but have left the grandchild off for now.)

In case you haven't realised, my Gedcom Census was replaced last year by Ancestral Sources. It does everything that Gedcom Census does but better and also has facilities to enter baptism records with future versions including marriages, births, burials, etc. It is available for download on this website and you can read more here: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id ... rces:index
