Conflicted copies?

Post by Dagwood » 07 Oct 2011 22:14

Something odd happened today when using FH on two mc's with Dropbox synchronising the changes. For the first time that I can recall when I went to open FH ( using Gedcom file rather than a Project) I noticed that in addition to my updated file I also had two addditional files in my FH folder both had the additional (Dagwood's conflicted copy 2011-10-07) between the normal title and the suffix .ged .
Can anyone throw any light on why this has just happened? i should add the two extra copies were timed just minutes before the final saved copy and did not have the final few changes that the last coy had.

Conflicted copies?

I suspect something meant you had the file open on both computers. I have seen it a couple of times, and just use the merge compare to check the changes are in the master file.

Conflicted copies?

Having thought about it, at no time were both machines on together yesterday. Puzzle isn't it?

Conflicted copies?

I managed to recreate the problem! It wasn't that both machines were on and using FH it was that I had two applications of FH running on one machine. Why? you might ask, and I can't give a good answer other than that instead of switching between a diagram window and a focus window I had opened FH twice and left each open with a different window. I don't think I'll do that again!
