I have carefully followed all the instructions to link images of bmd certificates to source records but am very disappointed with the quality of the images. The scanned images in my Pictures Library are excellent but in copying them to FH the quality has deteriorated and some are barely legible. What has gone wrong? I scanned the certificates at 1200 dpi - there is no option to select 1500 because on my Epson scanner the next choice is 2400 dpi.
Should I have added the images to FH rather than copying them?
All suggestions gladly received - I'm a very new user!

Family Historian does not change the images when it copies them, are you sure you are not viewing them reduced? Try pressing the 1:1 button at the top of the media window.
Personally I tend to scan A4 sized certificates at around 300dpi which is high enough to reprint them A4 if I need to.

Which feature of FH are you using to view the BMD Certificate images?
If you are looking at them in the Property Box for the Source record, on the Multimedia tab, then ensure you have not selected the Show Thumbnails option.
This is the icon in the lower toolbar that looks like four window panes.
Also if you click the Edit button in the same toolbar, then you can maximise the popup window and zoom into the BMD Certificate at any zoom level.
If you are using the default settings in Reports, then BMD Certificates will look poor, because those settings are designed for photo images of people.
While viewing the Report in a Report Window use Reports > Report Options or click the Options button on the right.
The Sources tab governs what Source Citation details are presented, and how any Multimedia images linked to Source records are displayed.
The default settings often result in very small images on the pages.
Each of the Max. Pics Per Source, Max. Pics Per Citation, Max. Picture Height, and Max. Picture Width settings will usually benefit from being increased.
Also tick the Enlarge Small Pictures to Max. Width option.

Many thanks for the posts Jane and Tatewise. I was looking at the thumbnails but now I know how to view them in the multi-media window and when I zoom in they are crystal clear. I'm on a steep learning curve.
