I too have found that FH closes itself after a minute or so. This happens regardless of what file is open and even when no file is open. I have a version of McAfee from my BT internet service (called BT NetProtect Plus).

Have just carried out a clean install of BT Netprotect and everything seems to be working properly again. Well doen to BT for getting it sorted out reasonably quickly. I am sure the messages from this user group to BT and McAfee were instrumental in getting such a quick response.

And the good news is that my McAfee (purchased after trial thru Acer) updated last night and FH seems to be working fine now!!
Thanks to everyone for a relatively quick resolution.

I have good news to report too! I put a message on General and was referred to this topic where I felt better finding I wasn't the only one with this problem. I have BT's NetProtect Plus with McAfee and have been waiting for the update to go on. No joy this morning so I tried to find someone to talk to at McAfee and/or BT as to when I could get the updated DAT file. Finally got on to BT's Technical help this afternoon (in India) but they got it done for me using the GoToAssist and taking over my PC. I showed the chap what Family Historian kept doing and then the message from our administrator with the information on the DAT update 6475.
The operator went into McAfee, found there was an update waiting and did it for me. Then he checked the McAfee Data folder in the program files and I now have DAT 6476. Went into Family Historian and it works! Halleluja! I have now printed out our family tree to take to 3 cousins I am visiting up north at the weekend. I really thought I would have to go without it but thanks to this Forum I was able to do something about it. Thank you everyone for your tips.
