Charts and Web site
I am a present trying to create a web site on FH4.1. Is it possible to :-
1.Transfer charts from FH 4 to the web site and
2. Move photographs from PC into the new web site?
If it is would someone kindly tell me how it's done
remembering that I'm no IT genius!

I've just done the chart bit of this (albeit to a CD, but it's basically the same). Not terribly elegant, but it works.
I created a diagram in FH and saved it as both jpg and single page pdf (my diagram was small enough to fit).
I then used FH wizard to create the CD (or website in your case), selecting individual narrative reports, and including on the home page index entries for Index and Narrative report for the root person.
Let FH create the files for the CD/website.
Now, copy the jpg and/or pdf diagram into the folder where FH has created all the html and image files for the CD/website.
Now you have to modify the html for the home page to add links to these diagrams to the table of contents. In the folder above find the file called index.html. Save a copy of it somewhere safe in case you make a mistake when editing it. Now open it in a text editor, you can use Notepad but I used PSPAD as it allows you to view what the web page will look like.
Now look about 2/3 of the way down and find the line something like (I modified the description a bit)
Index of All Relatives
(this displays on the home page the link for jumping to the index)
Now, either above or below the above line insert these two lines:
Family Tree Diagram of all Relatives of xxxxx (jpg)
Family Tree Diagram of all Relatives of xxxxx (pdf)
(you need to change 'name of your chart file' above to whatever you called your chart)
Save the file, then via My Computer or Windows explorer navigate to the file and double click on it. Your web browser should now open the home page with links to the diagrams. Click on one of them and it should open the diagram in a new tab or window, so that the user can leave this tab open while they go back to the home page and then go and look at all the reports on the people.
Have a play and see how far you get, come back if you have any problems.
(if you want to PM me with an email address I'll send you a copy of a few of my actual files so you can see how it works).

Following on from my previous reply, a couple of other thoughts.
Like you I wasn't very familiar with html but I found this site quite helpful:
http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
You might also like to try GEDMill, a program that will take your FH produced ged file and create a website. It's free and can be found here:
http://www.logicmill.com/
It's nicer in some respects, like it generates a mini 3 generation tree at the top of each individal's report page, but the report isn't quite as nice (to my mind) as the FH ones. You could also do the same trick as in my previous post to modify the home page to link to a full diagram.
Beware, with both FH and GEDMill, if you subsequently run the website generator again it will overwrite your previous files, including any mods you've made or files you've added to the folders (eg the diagram files), so make a copy of these somewhere so you can copy them back in.
You could have a look through some other members trees to see what they have done. Find them here:

There are some very nice ones, but beyond my capabilty at the moment!

The method of creating the Chart/Diagram JPEG is as above.
An easier way to add a Chart/Diagram/Photo is to use the FH Wizard Table of Contents page.
From the left-hand pane select Picture and choose whatever image file you want.
You can set the Table of Contents text, and both picture Title and Caption.
This can be repeated as many times as you like.
If you want Photos to appear in the Reports then first each Photo must be attached as Multimedia to the Individual or the Source it belongs to.
Then customise the Miscellaneous Reports for Family Group Sheet (for Web or CD) &/or Individual Summary Report (for Web or CD) to include the pictures.
For more details see these Forum threads:

Thanks Tatewise, yes that's a much easier way of getting a picture link into the table of contents. It doesn't load into a new tab or window, but I can force that by right clicking on the link and select to open in new tab (or in my case I have the middle mouse button configured to do this).
Currie - you can also use the same method to open a the pdf with the diagram (or any other file for that matter). In the 'Add items for Table of Contents' section of the wizard select Gedcom file or other Download item from the list and just fill out the text for the Table of Contents Entry, then find and select the pdf file.
The FH wizard will copy the jpg and pdf files into the correct folder for the web site/cd.
Tatewise - My next challenge is to work out how to get links into the sources list at the bottom of the individual summary reports so that I can click and get a full size image of the source (eg certificate, census return). What would be really nice is if the source thumbnail could have the link 'embedded', so you just have to click on the thumbnail. Is there an easy way to do this that's then repeatable each time I rebuild the CD?

Tatewise - re my previous post I've just followed up on the link you posted and taken a look at your website
http://www.users.freenetname.co.uk/~mik ... ind28.html
and you have achieved just what I'm aiming for in terms of popping up full sized images.
I'd really appreciate a bit more info on how you've achieved this, particularly the java script and how it's used/integrated, and the automation via AutoHotkey (which I've played with a little bit in the past).
Hope you don't think I'm being too cheeky in asking this

The Tools > Create a Family Tree CD and Internet > Create a Website techniques have become a popular topic recently, so I plan to add an article in the Knowledge Base for Family Historian on how to Create a Family Tree CD or Website.
This will include the tips & tricks in all these related Forum threads, and details of the Java scripts and AutoHotkey techniques to open hyperlinks on a new tab, make thumbnail images popup full-size, and automate the whole process.
But please be patient - it may take a while.

Thanks for this Tatewise - I'll have to do some swotting then try it out on a small test tree. [smile]
