Saving Box styles

Post by Briand » 19 Jul 2011 12:53

Hello again. This follows from my recent post about borders. Is there any way of saving (and re-using) a set of box styles for a diagram. I find that I want to have different styles for different purposes: e.g. no boxes at all for a simple tree; fancy boxes with coloured fill for another purposes etc. I can see how to save a set of settings as the default, but then I have to 'rebuild' from scratch when I want a diffent appearance - and remember to uncheck the 'save a default' box! We can set up customised text for the data in the box, but what about the box itself. Can one add a style to the 'Presets' list, perhaps?

Many thanks,
Brian

Save As Custom Diagram Type and then select the Diagram from the View>Custom Diagram menu rather than using the icons at the top.

Ah, wonderful! That seems to solve the immediate need. I'll play around with it and build up a 'custom library' of styles.

BTW: Where are my custom diagrams and custom queries saved? I noticed that I lost a custom query that I had made (as opposed to those which I had downloaded) when I moved to another computer a few months ago.

Thanks again.

Thank you again, Jane. That's a really useful article - now printed out and inserted in my FH manual.

Now, I never would have thought of looking in the Application Data folder for FH settings, but I had kept an up to date back-up of all the Application Data folders (Admin, All Users and Me), and lo and behold, there are my previous customisations! Just got to put them back in the right place now.

Most grateful,
Brian
