Exporting images in Gedcom file

I am trying to create a webpage using an external program such as Gedscape (in fact, I have tried several different such programs). I use these rather than the FH utility because I want to show navigable descendant and pedigree charts etc.

However, my big problem is that not one of my images seem to export. Does anyone have any idea why this is the case?

I suspect GedScape is not clever enough to use the FH media extension. Try using the FH converter I wrote to use with TNG to convert the media links, you will need to download and install IrfanView as well.

See the notes on the link.

Thanks. Can anyone recommend a program that is compatible with FH gedcom output format.

I am looking to be able to:

1. Display interactive pedigree, ancestor, descendant charts for anyone on database.
2. Display photo images of each person.
3. Be able to customise what is seen for living persons (probably just name, year and place of birth)

As I understood, FH puts image in a separate OBJE record,
like this:

Code: Select all

0 @I1@ INDI
  1 NAME John //
  1 OBJE @O1@
    2 _ASID 1

0 @O1@ OBJE
  1 FORM jpeg
  1 _FILE Mediajohn.JPG
FH Converter moves the image into the INDI record:

Code: Select all

0 @I1@ INDI
  1 NAME John //
  1 OBJE
    2 FORM jpeg
    2 FILE mediaXO2X-0.jpg
Is there a way to make directly Family Historian put images into the INDI record?

Yes, either in the Individual Records window or the All tab of the Property Box.
Right-click on the name of the Individual and in the context menu choose:
Add Miscellaneous > Add Multimedia Object > Add Local Multimedia Object to this Record and fill in the Format, Title, and File reference to Media folder.
You can then right-click on the new object and add a Date and all forms of Note.
The image appears on the Multimedia tab of the Property Box and in the Focus Window.
However it cannot be edited and does not appear in the Multimedia Records window.
