Do you use the
Customize Property Box facility to change the
Main tab fields or add
Custom tabs to any type of
Property Box?
Would you like to perform any of the following:
- Change the Order of your Custom Property Box Tabs in FH
- Change the Names of your Custom Property Box Tabs in FH
- Backup and Restore all the FH Property Box Tab definitions to external files
- Import or Export any selection of tab definitions from or to the FHUG Downloads
- Load or Save any selection of tab definitions from or to any FH Property Box
- Easily View and compare the internal code of any tab definitions
If so, a
Property Box Tab Organiser utility will soon be added to the
FHUG Downloads.

Brilliant, well done!
No, take that back. You assume these files and Family Historian itself are in certain folders. Not here. I don't use the Program Files folder, for instance.
I can't see why you don't allow the user to point to the relevant PB-INDI.fhdata file.
As it is, it is unusable. Sorry.

Tatewise,
I have downloaded the Property Box Tab Organiser but I get a code 280 error.
My Family Historian folder is in C:Program FilesFamily HistoryFamily Historian
not C:Program FilesFamily Historian as the organiser expects so it cannot find the Property Box.
Is there any way to point the organise to the correct location for my instance?
Many thanks
Peter E

Peter E,
Property Box Tab Organiser assumes the default Family Historian folder for the Property Box installation files:
C:Program FilesFamily HistorianProperty BoxPB-****.fhdata
A workaround is to create the folder specified above, and copy the files from your folder:
C:Program FilesFamily HistoryFamily HistorianProperty Box
You will have to remember to update these file copies when FH is updated.
PBTO uses these files to establish the Main (Default) tab settings.
If it becomes a significant problem I could add a prompt in response to ERROR: 280 to request the installation folder path.

Tatewise,
Thanks for that.
I placed my Family Historian folder inside another folder [Family History] along with other family history related programmes eg. ParLoc & RJTDateCalc simply to keep things tidier and more orderly.
It will not be a problem at all for me to move my Family Historian folder back to its original default place - as I moved it so I can move it back. I am sure that it will be worthwhile to be able to use 'Property Box Tab Organiser'.
Many thanks
Peter E

Mike, just a thought, but I understood the 'live' one was in the Program Data (application data folder) and the one in program files was a backup copy for returning to installation settings.

That is correct.
PBTO uses the installation Program Files folder files to establish Main tab Default installation settings.
Also, if the 4 header lines of these files are ever changed by FH then PBTO will follow suit.
PBTO uses the Load FH Tabs button to get the 'live' FH tab settings from the ProgramData folder, and the Import Tabs button to get tab settings from any other folder.
The reverse of these operations are on the Save FH Tabs and Export Tabs button.

You're sure that 'Program Files' is a good idea to have that hard-coded ?
On a Win7 x64 'Program Files' is for the true x64 Programs, whereras FH sit's in 'Program Files (x86)' which is a common installation folder for aged software built in the past centuries
And my FH did auto-install in 'Program Files (x86)' and I didn't expect it to install differnt. If I get it right, this will lead to a problem.
Nevertheless, the idea is great, and such an organiser is something as essential as the inbuild text-sheme editor for diagrams.

I have had a couple reports of Virus problems I have run the file through VirusTotal, and I suspect this is a false positive, you can see the report here:

Sorry for the delay in replying to the later postings, but have been on holiday.
I am sure there is no Virus problem with PBTO, so the reports must be false positives.
I have scanned the .zip file and its internal .exe and .lnk files with Microsoft Security Essentials and no virus is reported.
PBTO automatically uses the default Family Historian installation Property Box folder.
This is usually C:Program FilesFamily HistorianProperty Box but on 64-bit PC is C:Program Files (x86)Family HistorianProperty Box.
This selection is automatic in PBTO, but clearly some users have installed Family Historian elsewhere.
Until there is a solution, the workaround is as described above in my posting on 05/27/11 using whichever of the two installation folders is appropriate.

Property Box Tab Organiser V1.0 &
V1.1 unfortunately had a
bug that I had not spotted, which caused tab definitions to be mishandled for all
except Individual Property Box tabs.
Please download the corrected
Property Box Tab Organiser V1.2 from:
FHUG > Main Menu > Downloads > Miscellaneous > Property Box Tab Organiser
http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cg ... eous&id=17
or
Knowledge Base > FHUG Downloads > Property Box > Utility ~ Property Box Tab Organiser

I apologise for this mistake.
