Source Location in Narrative Reports

Post by Debbie » 12 Apr 2011 22:39

I am trying to produce a narrative report which shows the sources cited in the text on a page, described at the bottom of each page, rather than at the back of the report, as I think it will be easier to read.

I have tried selecting the ‘at end of record on same page’ option in the ‘Location of Source Citations’, then ‘applying’ followed by ‘rebuild report’, but this doesn’t seem to be any different to ‘at the end of the report’ option.

Am I trying to do the impossible or just doing it wrong?[confused]

Source Location in Narrative Reports

If the narrative report is Descendants By Generation or Ancestors By Generation, and there are several generations, and there is only one starting person, then there is only one 'record' and the Sources will come at the end of the 'record' (i.e. all the descendants or ancestors of the one starting person).

If instead you select an Individual Narrative report and select several Individual records, perhaps by using a Query, you will see that the relevant Sources are output after each Individual record.

Thank you Peter, that is just what I was after! It was the Descendants by Generation report I was selecting.

I am afraid I haven't got to grips with queries yet, but clearly I need to start learning as it allows more flexibility, doesn't it?

Thanks for your help.
