Printing

Post by john_harvey1 » 19 Mar 2011 18:56

Hi All, New to FH and the forum.
(version 4.1.3)
I have installed FH as I was told it is more 'flexible' when it comes to printing.
My question really is just that, how do I print my family tree in the traditional pedgree form ?
I understand that it would be over several pages.
I have afreind eho has an A3 printer if that would help.
Kind regards......John

If you are looking for a left right style diagram rather than an ancestor chart. Select View>Standard Diagram>Pedigree All

To learn more about how to customise your diagrams please check out chapters 8 through 11 of the Book accessible from the help menu.

It is possible that by more 'flexible' they were referring to FH V4 offering Save Diagram As > PDF File, which FH V3 did not support.

Also, PDF Files can be set up to hold the entire diagram on one page, which can then be printed on an A3 sheet.

However, there are some size limits, and the scaling may render the text font unreadable if you have too many generations &/or too many details per individual box in your diagram.

FH also has a great deal of flexibility for you to customise the details in each individual box.

Thanks for the help.
If I Select View>Standard Diagram the only option I have is 'everyone' all the other options are greyed out ?

Make sure you select a person on your Focus window or Record Window for the root of the diagram.

John,
That is because you have not selected an individual or couple to base the diagram on. Click on an individual and then go to 'view' and 'standard diagram' and then the other options should be available.
