Maximum TextIf in series??
Hi,
I have been programming a new column in 'Records View'.
The code consists of TextIf(HasFlag(%INDI%,'Yeates Line'),'Yeates') but twelve times with different names.
The problem is that any more than ten TextIf....etc and the column and code disappear when FH is restarted. (It is fine until re-started)
Is there a max No. of TextIf in series or a max No. of charactors allowed?
At present FH appears stable with ten sets.
I would appreciate any enlightenment.

Maximum TextIf in series??
There was a problem with long expressions in Queries, which I think was fixed in 4.1.2, does the 12 item version work in a query instead of a record column?

Hi,
I don't know, but I will attempt it tomorrow.
(If I can remember how to do it in a query)

In the Configure Columns window use the Save to Query button.
Then you can run the Query and also use it to restore your Record Window columns using the Load from Query button.
If you use File > Import/Export > Export > Query you also have a file you can backup.
This is handy if you need to re-install FH and restore your Record Window columns.

Thank you TateWise, it worked a treat.
Jane,
I ran the twelve name TextIf.... as a query and it worked fine.
I shut down FH and re-started and all code was still there and it ran OK.
The 'Twelne Name' TextIf... runs Ok in FH but disapears when FH is re-started plus I lost some other columns like ID No. and Fathers Name.
If it is a bug then I can work round it until, hopefully, there is an update.
Thanks
John

The main difference is that each Custom Query is saved as a file in C:ProgramDataCalico PieFamily HistorianQueriesCustom, whereas Record Window Columns are saved in the Windows Registry.
So it seems that FH does not correctly store/retrieve the Record Window Columns via the Registry.
I do not think the Registry has any significant limiting factors (each data value can be 1MB), so it looks like an FH bug.
It has been a long standing suggestion that FH should preserve all its user configurable settings in files rather than the Registry.
This would allow them to be backed-up by users

Thanks TateWise,
It seems very strange to save things in the Registry where no one except the brave or foolhardy should go.
