Property Box Custom Download

Post by Johnyeates » 05 Feb 2011 17:37

Hi,
I have downloaded the 'Census' Tab modification for the Property Box written by 'annettelindahutton' - (see V4 Usage 16/10/10). It is in the form of PB-INDI that has to be copied to the Calico Pie folder in the Application Data Folder, but I am prety sure that will over write the modifications that I have made to the Property Box.
Is there any way of merging the two PB-INDI files?
Regards
John

If you carefully preserve copies of your two PB-INDI files, and open them with a simple text editor such as Notepad you will see they are simple text files with a fairly obvious format.

The [S-1] and [S-1B] sections near the end define the Main tab top and spouse sections.

The [C-1] to [C-n] sections define each custom tab with names as listed at the very top of the file.

The Count=n entries specify the number of lines defining each section.

With a bit of text editing you should be able to merge the old and new tabs.

If it doesn't work you can always revert to the originally save copies.

Dear Tatewise,
I have done the merge, but how do I convert the Notepad Text file back to a FHDATA file?

I assume your filename now looks like PB-INDI.txt or perhaps PB-INDI.fhdata.txt
Simply rename the file to be PB-INDI.fhdata
Ignore the warning that changing the file extension may make it unusable.
