BMD Query and Icons on charts

I have FH V4.
I have looked at various forums and threads on FHUG but cannot find the answer to my question. I am sure it is there somewhere but ??
Please can someone help me how to write a query to show who has a Birth Certifcate shown as a source.
Hopefully I should then be able to write Death and Marriage Certificate queries.
I believe I should then be able to show in a chart whether an individual has a Birth certificate using SDIcons?
I hope so anyway.
Regards,
Steve

Depending on your source naming you can either check the source name for Certificate on the Birth event, or if you set your source type you can check that instead.
For example to use the source type on a birth event would be
%INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[1]>_TYPE%
Just select it from the list on the left in the query menu.

In cases where a Birth Event has more than one Source you may need additional row filters, e.g.
Code: Select all
%INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[2]>_TYPE%
%INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[3]>_TYPE%

Jane,
Thanks. Really am not able to get my head round this. My sources are all shown as Birth Cert (individual).
Cannot see where this phrase goes in the query.
Furthermore where is the query menu on the left
Sorry,
Steve

Ok I assume from that you are saying you only have one source for all your birth Certificates rather than the more common option of one source per certificate.
I presume you have
1. Made a new custom query for individuals
2. Added columns for Birth and the Source for the Birth
3. On the Row Tab select the source data reference by dropping down the list and selecting it and select your single Birth Source with 'add if' this will select all the birth
Furthermore where is the query menu on the left
On the Columns Tab, or on the Rows tab press the ... button on the end of the expression field.

I have a Query that lists the state of my BMD research, that relies on the distinct Source per Fact technique, so may not help Steve, but may be of interest to others.
In summary it lists individuals WITHOUT a complete set of Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates.
Excludes individuals with no surname, no date of birth, no date of death, or approx date of death.
Caters for individuals that have had two partners (married twice).
If individual died younger than 16 then 1st Marriage Date displays ' n/a ' = not alive.
If a woman died without ' nee ' in Death Source Title then 1st Marriage Date displays ' n/m ' = never married.
It assumes the first Source Record for a Fact is the one that holds the relevant Multimedia record.
Because I may have a Source, and even a Multimedia Record for a BMD Fact, I use the file Folder name to determine whether I have actually got an image file of a 'Certificate' or alternatively an image file of a 'GRO Index' entry.
