Offspring appearing twice in diagrams

Apologies for the poor description of my problem but I have a couple of sets of graphic tapered linking lines in my tree which show the same offspring appearing under two mothers. I can't find any reference to it in the manual and have tried unsuccessfully to search through forum posts. I'm sure I cannot be the only one to get this but it appears when a widowed father marries a second time and the one set of children appear under both spouses. I have had to delete some people to break the link where the spouse is not the ancestor and in some cases unlinking has worked but I don't know why this occurs and want to avoid it happening again. Any references to previous threads or advice most welcome.

Do you mean
Duplicates Linking Ribbons as in the diagram below?
This is caused by the
Child (Andrew TATE) being included in both parent
Families.
In the
Property Box of the
Father (Denis TATE) there is a pair of tabs for the two
Mothers (Janet & Maria).
The
Child (Andrew TATE) is listed under both tabs, but cannot be the
natural child of both mothers.
To correct the situation the
Child must be unlinked from its step-mother.
Open the
Property Box of the
Child and select the
All tab.
Highlight the
Parents family involving the step-mother, press
Delete key, and click
OK.
See
Tools > Diagram Defaults > General > Check for duplicates > Options for settings and click
Help for details.
