Inserting diagrams into diagrams

I have a problem with a very large diagram, into which I have inserted a few much smaller diagrams. Some of these smaller diagrams have had to be modified by the creation of extra lines. This is absolutely fine, and presents no problems, until a small modification is made to the main diagram, at which time many/most/all the boxes in the main diagram shift around a bit, but the subsudiary trees (with all their extra lines) stay in the same place and are therefore in the wrong place. Thus, every small modification to the main tree means that every single box and line of the subsidiary trees has to be repositioned - what a nuisance. Is there not a way of LOCKING these subsiduary trees in place, so that they move together with the main one.
Any ideas gratefully recieved.

Inserting diagrams into diagrams

Hello Philip.
I sympathise because I have exactly the same problem.
There is a
Wish List entry asking for a
Group/Ungroup Diagram feature that you could vote for at:
http://www.fhug.org.uk/wishlist/wldispl ... lwlref=258
I have not tried this, but one possible technique would be to use separate diagram images.
i.e.
Create each subsidiary tree with its extra lines, etc, and use
Diagram > Save Diagram As > JPEG File (.jpg) to save an image {Do NOT use
PDF File (.pdf)}.
When they are all saved, create your main Diagram as usual.
Use
Diagram > Insert into Diagram > Picture and choose your saved
JPEG File (.jpg) subsidiary diagrams.
Right-click on each inserted picture in turn and use
Order > Send to Back and also
Format > Line and Fill > No Line.
Also while selected drag the border handles to adjust its size and drag entire subsidiary diagram picture into its desired position on main diagram.
This is not ideal but may save some time recreating the subsidiary diagrams each time.
